What is Section 8?
Section 8, also called the Housing Choice Voucher program, helps eligible households pay for housing in the private rental market. Local housing agencies administer the program. Rent From Max is a rental search site, not a housing authority, and does not issue vouchers.
Finding a rental with a Section 8 voucher
- Start with your housing agency. Confirm your voucher details, search deadline, and paperwork.
- Compare available homes. Use the map, bedroom counts, and listed rents to build your shortlist.
- Ask about the specific home. Contact the leasing team about availability and the voucher paperwork for that address.
- Complete the approval process. The housing agency reviews the proposed rent and inspects the home before assistance can begin.
Does every listing have Section 8 approval?
No listing on this site should be treated as already approved for your voucher. Program approval is specific to the home and household. A displayed rent is not a guarantee of your out-of-pocket payment.
